DA-team paint Dannhauser blue

DA inspires change in town

The Democratic Alliance took over Dahlia Street this past Saturday when the party hosted a street meeting in Dannhauser.

With the local government elections scheduled for later this year, the party sought to clear up misconceptions about the DA, encourage residents to register and to help address local issues plaguing the town. Organised by DA member, Lalitha Bhugwandin, the meeting featured notable DA concillors, Bebsie Cronje from Newcastle and Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) in KZN, Dr Imran Keeka.

Dr Keeka addressed the gathered crowd, explaining that the reason over 8 million South Africans were unemployed was because one man still had a job. He said there was only one solution – change. “Power has been taken away from the people and given to a select few. As the DA we plan to change South Africa.”

“If you think we are talking nonsense, have a look at the Western Cape where we govern. We are not completely flawless but we are the best run province,” he said.
He told people not to thank government, because government wasn’t doing them a favour, it was their job. Dr Keeka urged residents to consider the DA when going to vote. “Lend us your vote. Help us make South Africa a better place.”

Residents then were able to speak about the issues most affecting them, with local DA councilor, Sipho Kunene. Among the grievances were the issue of roads, water, electricity and refuse.

The DA promised to host more meetings in the town as the aim to drum up support for the upcoming local elections.
