The Glencoe man who feigned illness to get admitted to Dundee Hospital, from where he escaped, but was later re-arrested, has been raped while back in custody in Glencoe Police Cells.

The 31-year-old has opened a charge of rape after he told police and fellow inmate raped him.

The Police are investigating.  The man has now been sent to Ladysmith where he has been detained in custody for his own safety.

The Glencoe man had first been arrested for assaulting his estranged wife. He was arrested and taken to the Glencoe police cells where he later complained of chest pains.

He was taken to hospital where he later managed to convince nurses to take him to casualty from where he dodged his police guards and made a bid for freedom.  Police later re-arrested him hiding in the cupboard in a flat occupied by his estranged wife who has been charged with defeating the ends of justice.
