Paramedics host rescue demonstration at school
After the demonstration, learners were given the opportunity to hold the rescue and medical equipment, and were given an explanation of how it all works
EMRS, together with Sharaj Rescue and Medics, held a rescue demonstration at Nhlonlweni Primary School in Roosboom on Thursday morning.
It was a joint team effort between Sharaj and EMRS rescue technicians and paramedics.
The main purpose of the event was to educate and reveal the hard work carried out by medics at accident scenes. There was a simulated light motor vehicle rescue, using learners as mock patients who needed to be freed from the wreckage. More than 100 learners enjoyed watching the team as they freed “trapped patients” Simphiwe Kumalo and Saneliso Mbatha, both in Grade 7, using the Jaws of Life.
Both students who took part in the demonstration have a shared vision, as they both want to train as paramedics after matric.
After the demonstration, learners were given the opportunity to hold the rescue and medical equipment, and were given an explanation of how it all works.
It was a day enjoyed by the principal, educators, medic teams and learners.
