KwaZulu-Natal SAPS managed to recover 33 firearms and 128 ammunitions in a one-week operation.

All operations were carried out from February 28 to  March 5 at all KwaZulu-Natal Clusters. Firearms that were recovered includes, four rifles, one homemade gun, 28 Pistols/ Revolvers and 128 live rounds of ammunition. A total of 35 suspects were arrested and charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions. They appeared at various magistrates’ court in the province for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

“Only hard work can yield positive results. We will not rest until we recover illegal firearms in our province. We are warning all those that are in possession of illegal firearms to surrender them to any local police stations. Our police officers will continue raiding those in possession of such illegal firearms,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni
