“No matter how small the amount of dagga, the suspects still have to face the full might of the law.”

Police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig made this comment after three people were arrested for dagga possession during stop-and-search operations recently.

The 17, 18 and 25-year-old suspects were arrested during the searches conducted in the central business district and Papkuilsfontein.

“The three were arrested after they were found in possession of small amounts of dagga weighing a few grams.

They appeared briefly in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on February 19,” added Captain Struwig.

The combined street value of the dagga is estimated at about R80.
