Left without water for days
From Saturday, people had to fend for themselves, as no workers or water tankers were dispatched to the area
Residents of Mysore Road and surrounding streets were left without water for four days recently.
The reason for the water cut was that someone evidently closed a valve situated in Mysore Road. Upset and frustrated residents phoned uThukela numerous times to ask for assistance while battling without water.
From Saturday, people had to fend for themselves, as no workers or water tankers were dispatched to the area.
On Monday afternoon, a frustrated resident phoned IFP councillor Abbas Warasally for help.
Cllr Warasally in turn phoned uThukela, who then immediately came and opened the water valve.
“I am disappointed in how long it took uThukela to come and fix this small problem. People with small children had to cope under difficult circumstances for such a long time before anything was done. Why does a councillor have to phone before uThukela springs into action?
They are providing a service for all the people and should take everyone’s problems seriously. This is really unacceptable,” commented Cllr Warasally.
