Theo Blok Snr passed away from complications during an operation last night in Pietermaritzburg. He had suffered a heart attack while undergoing the operation. His family were with him at the time.

Family and friends expressed shock at his sudden passing. He has left a lasting legacy in our community; a man who always had time to listen, engage and help all who needed it.

We, at the Ladysmith Gazette, had the privilege of having worked closely with him on numerous charity projects and his assistance was always above anything we could have hoped for.

A memorial service honouring his life will be held on Friday, March 18, starting at 10am for 10.30am at the NG Kerk (Klipkerk) in Murchison Street.
