Power supply knocks out water supply to villagers

Hattingspruit hit by power cuts and water cuts

Power supply interruptions have knocked out the water supply in Hattingspruit much to the frustration of villagers.
Residents who contacted the Courier said the water supply was first cut last Saturday afternoon and supply was only restored on Monday afternoon.
Then on Wednesday, the water was off again and residents had contacted the authorities, the taps were running again by Friday morning.
Asked to comment Sbonelo Cebekhulu, Deputy Director of Public Relations with Amajuba District Municipality, who manage Hattingspruit’s water supply, said the main challenge has been power supply problems.
“To address the issue there is a generator that is being used to pump water. I have summoned my team to go and check what is happening and see if Eskom can assist to address the power supply issue.
We will follow-up with the team to see if the challenged has been fully resolved.”
