A joint team visited Siphiwesamangwe Combined School in Loskop last Thursday to address learners, parents and teachers and promote the Safer Schools Programme.

The delegation included members from the Amangwe South African Police Services (SAPS), Imbabazane Municipality Mayor Phindile Strydom, various non-governmental organisations, the Community Policing Forum, Youth Desk, Community Safety and Liaison volunteers, Home Affairs, Correctional Services, the departments of Labour, Social Development as well as Health.

The project is part of the police station’s Safer Schools Programme. The various departments that were present addressed the audience, which was comprised of learners and representatives from 32 different high schools and primary schools in the area.

These departments offered their services, which included a mobile Community Service Centre and a mobile clinic.

Representatives from the departments also gave advice while the learners, in turn, rendered plays and sketches to the delight of the audience.
