Foreigners shot during robbery on N11

Multiple shots were fired by two attackers, injuring a Chinese couple

Four people were robbed this morning (Thursday) on the N11 after their vehicle was forced to pull over by armed gunmen.

A gold Toyota Camry was travelling from Newcastle to Ladysmith when a vehicle pulled in front of them at the Elandslaagte turn-off, forcing the Camry to stop.

Multiple shots were fired by two attackers, injuring a Chinese couple (husband and wife). Two occupants of the Camry were unharmed.

Cash and cell-phones were stolen, and then the suspects fled the scene.

Elandslaagte police, the Ladysmith K9 Unit and ambulance services responded.

The Chinese couple were treated at the scene for gunshot wounds and then rushed to a hospital in Ladysmith. The husband is currently in theatre and the wife is in ICU.
