LOCAL businessmen and women gathered at Dee's Restaurant recently to deliberate the possibility of reopening the local Chamber of Commerce.

LOCAL businessmen and women gathered at Dee’s Restaurant recently to deliberate the possibility of reopening the local Chamber of Commerce.

Leon Prinsloo, well known for his role in AfriForum and Labour Relations, has been pivotal in presenting the idea to the business community. The meeting was held to ascertain whether the move to reopen the local Chamber of Commerce would be a viable one and all those who attended agreed that it would.

Following a compelling speech by Dr Ernest Messina, CEO of the Afrikaans Handelsinstituut (AHI) an interim steering committee was elected and it was established that the Chamber of Commerce in Newcastle will assist with the restructuring thereof.
