Update: Robbery victims in ICU

A massive manhunt for the suspects is currently underway

This morning (Thursday) at about 10am, a group of five Chinese people travelling along the N11 were robbed.

It is believed that a car pulled in front of their Toyota Camry and forced them to stop. An unknown number of suspects with firearms got out of the vehicle and opened fire on the occupants of the Camry.

Two people sustained multiple gunshot wounds and three were unharmed. The gunshot victims are in ICU at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital. Family and friends are currently at the hospital.

The female who is in ICU is a friend of the male and not his wife, as previously thought. She had come to visit him from China and they were planning to tour Durban together.

The suspects fled the scene with cell-phones and cash.

Elandslaagte SAPS and the K9 Unit responded to the scene.

A massive manhunt for the suspects is currently underway. They are believed to be driving a small darkish vehicle.

Elandslaagte SAPS are investigating a case of attempted murder.
