We are so grateful for your support and the quality of the work, also providing quality wear for our school.

When the rugby teams competed on February 20 at Sarel Cilliers, one of our players was awarded “Best player of the match”. Well done, Lwazi Phakathi, on this prestigious award.

Eight of our learners competed in the English Olympiad on March 1. The paper was enjoyed by the learners and was of a fair standard. Thank you to Mrs Tasseron for her effort in preparing the children for this external exam. As a school we eagerly await the results.

On March 2, the winter sport teams competed against Utrecht on our home grounds. All learners played their hearts out and enjoyed the matches immensely. There were, however, a few injuries and we wish the players a speedy recovery. The results are as follows: Rugby u/15 won 80 – 0, combined senior time won 20 – 0. Netball u/14 and u/15 combined won 20 – 9, u/16 won 15 – 12, senior team won 23 – 10. Hockey Junior team lost 1 – 2 and Senior team drew 1 – 1.

A first for Landbou will be the hosting of the International Women’s Day of Prayer on March 4 in our school hall. This year the day of prayer focuses on Cuba. Together with praying for Cuba we want to add the migrant crisis in Europe and Northern Africa, the wars in many countries in Africa, the severe drought in South Africa and the water crisis in our town. Thank you to all outside Vryheid who are helping our town and thank you to all in Vryheid who are trying to help the community with this crisis.

Landbou’s quote for the year is the words of Jake Bailey, “Here is the thing, none of us get out of life alive. So be gallant, be great, be gracious and be grateful for the opportunities that you have.” We strive to live these words @ Landbou!

Due to the rain, our Wednesday matches against Pongola, were cancelled.

Although we have encountered water problems at school, we are eternally grateful for the rain that has fallen. Due to the aforementioned, the hostel will be closed for the weekend to give the reservoir an opportunity to fill for the last week of school.

Our Grade 12 AMP learners had a wonderful practical experience when they were taught how to do fertility tests on organs and on cows on the farm. Landbou is truly a unique school in giving learners the opportunity to do tests like this! Thank you, Mrs Uys and Mr van der Schyff for your efforts.

Our Grade 12 class was also going on a yearly excursion to Dundee High for a performance of Othello. They thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you to Dundee High and Mrs Tasseron for making this trip possible.
