Runners, walkers take on Woodlands Easter Challenge

Runners, walkers and a large group of youngsters gathered at the start of the Woodlands Easter Fun run/walk last Saturday morning.
The challenging 5km run started with a bang as an assortment of age groups took off down the muddy path. The eager youngsters standing nearby were clutching their Easter baskets in anticipation of finding Easter eggs in the forest.
With the sun just peeping through the clouds they took off into the forest at top speed. A variety of activities were available to the youngsters once they had completed the Easter egg hunt: a tractor and trailer ride around the farm where they were able to view the farm animals such as donkeys and a miniature pony: a fun water slide into the dam and an assortment of farm animals to feed including miniature Cambodian goats, geese, a turkey and horses.
Mrs Dimock had prepared a variety of delicious jams, breads and fresh vegetables to sell. The pancakes, wors rolls and curry and rice were quickly demolished by the hungry crowd. Families sat chatting on the terraced areas under the trees whilst the children enjoyed the water slide. Douglas and Donna Johnstone are hoping to make this an annual event and would like to thank the families who participated. They are looking forward to organising new fun filled events on their farm in the future.
