Update: 2 die in hail of bullets

The road is closed to traffic and officials say it might be closed for the next five hours

Bullets ripped through a bakkie this afternoon (Tuesday), leaving two people dead on the Peacetown road.

Just after 5pm, a bakkie (not a taxi as previously thought) was riddled with bullets in a drive-by shooting. It is believed that the deceased belong to a taxi association.

The number of suspects is unknown at this stage, but it is believed that two different guns were used.

It is also believed that the suspects fled the scene in a white vehicle travelling away from Peacetown.

The road is closed to traffic and officials say it might be closed for the next five hours. Please be advised to make use of alternative routes.

Sharaj Ambulance Services responded and police are on scene.
