A jubilant atmosphere filled the air last Thursday morning, as pupils from St Dominic’s Academy rallied together to participate in a charity fun walk.
Gathering at Grey Goose, the pupils were eager to kick off the event which formed part of the school’s 125th birthday celebrations.
The school was established in 1891 and named after Saint Dominic, a well-known figure throughout Europe in the 12th century, known for his charitable demeanour. The event was held in honour of the charitable work St Dominic was renowned for.
In order to participate in the event, each pupil was asked to donate pet food for the SPCA, winter clothing, blankets or cash to be distributed to local charities.
The main celebration for the school’s 125th birthday will take place on Saturday, August 6.
On the day, pupils will take part in different activities and a celebratory dinner. This will be followed by a service in the chapel on Sunday, August 7.
