Uthukela remains silent over water interruptions

Frustration is building as Uthukela District Municipality stonewalls residents and the media about the cause of the water supply interruptions and conditions

For some it’s been more than 24 hours without water, for others it’s been a weekend of murky smelly water pouring from taps.

Frustration is building as Uthukela District Municipality stonewalls residents and the media about the cause of the water supply interruptions and conditions.

Throughout the day numerous phone calls and emails to the district municipality have gone unanswered and it seems this has been the case for some residents too.

The Communications Department was unavailable the entire day. A call to the Speaker, Tim Jeebodh’s office also proved in vain.

Unofficial sources say that areas like Forderville, Colita and Papkuilsfontein could be without water for two to three days.

Unfortunately no official from Uthukela District Municipality could or would confirm this.
