A man cut himself on 1,8 metre high palisade fence in Glencoe after he had managed to flee into a garden on Rose Avenue to avoid marauding dogs. This he told police and the home owners.

However, Shamila Sookraj says she and her family do not believe the man and are standing by their view that he would have broken into their home if he had not been disturbed.
“It was around 5.30 am on Sunday when my husband and son got up after hearing a noise. My son went out first and the man ran to the fence and got caught up in the spikes. He shouted for my husband and when he came out, the man was already bleeding. He had managed to climb over the fence but could not get out and ended up cutting his leg on the spikes,” Shamila said.

When questioned the man said he was walking in the area when dogs started chasing him. Afraid, he managed to squeeze through the bars to safety.
“The police were insistent that the man be taken for medical treatment. They stood by his story that he had been chased by dogs.”

Glencoe police said an investigation is in progress.
