Just hop, skip and more skips to success for Asanda

The competition co-organised by Thandwangubani "Skipping Champ" Nxumalo, saw children as young as five and teenagers aged up to 17 competing.

Asanda Ncokwane skipped to success when she managed to skip non-stop for five minutes at the Lethokuhle Day Care skipping competition held at Hlokomani Primary School, Nyanyadu, on Easter Monday.
The competition co-organised by Thandwangubani “Skipping Champ” Nxumalo, saw children as young as five and teenagers aged up to 17 competing.
All participants received medals while winners in each category received a T-shirt. Asanda is now a skipping ambassador and she will be joining Skipping Champ Nxumalo on Mandela Day to skip 67 minutes non-stop. Since 2011, the Skipping Champ has visited Mandela’s house in Vilakazi Street, Orlando West, to motivate the youth by using skipping to fight drugs, crime, obesity and unemployment.
The organisers thank all those who supported the project including David Magazi from Amandla Malt Dannhauser, Lucas Sithole (para-Olympian) who sponsored medals, Councillor Ace Manyathi, Hlokomani Primary School Principal and the School Governing Body and Nyanyadu community who supported this worthy event.
