April 9 and 10 have been set aside for the second and final voter registration weekend.
All eligible voters are requested to check their status at the voting station in the suburb where they live as well as register to vote in the upcoming Local Government Elections.
Who can register?
You must:
•be a South African citizen;
• be at least 16 years old (you can only vote from age 18); and
• have a green, bar-coded ID book; smartcard ID; or valid Temporary Identity Certificate.
How do I know if or where I’m registered?
To check your registration details, you can:
• send an SMS with your ID number to 32810 (R1 per SMS);
• check at your voting station during a registration weekend; or
• check at your local IEC office (next to Umtshezi Municipality) during office hours.
Voting stations will be open for registration from 8am to 5pm both days.
