A 36-year-old woman was arrested for the possession of a 9mm pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition
The infiltration of unlicensed firearms in communities has been widespread and police have been hard at work ‘cleaning up’.
On March 21 at about 4am, Public Order Policing members who were working in Weenen followed up on information and this led them to the Vumbu area. A 36-year-old woman was arrested for the possession of a 9mm pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition.
“This was followed by a second arrest in the same area. A 38-year-old man was found in possession of a .38 revolver,” said police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
Officers from the Tactical Response Team who were working in the Amangwe area on March 21 arrested a 35-year-old man who was found in possession of an unlicensed 7.65 pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
