Bail granted to wife accused of husband’s murder

A 37-year-old woman facing charges of murder was granted bail of R1000 today (Monday) in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court.
Mrs Justine Fourie stands accused of killing her husband, 46-year-old Barend Fourie.
According to a police source (who asked not to be named), the woman made a full confession last week.
Mrs Fourie appeared in court on Friday and was remanded into custody.
Barend Liebenburg Fourie’s body was discovered outside a house in the Danskraal area on March 14. He had been stabbed numerous times.
Initial reports indicated that the deceased went outside the house to urinate when he was stabbed to death by an unknown assailant. However, after an intelligence-driven investigation, officers believed his wife to be the killer.
Mrs Fourie is set to appear in court again on May 20.
