Robber holds knife to baby’s throat

The mother frantically tried to get the knife out of the suspect's hand

He asked for a job and when he was told to come back later, things turned ugly…

The victim of a house robbery that took place this afternoon (Monday) in Foxglove Avenue is extremely shaken up after a robber believed to be in his late 20s came into her home and held a knife to her baby’s throat.

Allegedly, the suspect, wearing a navy-blue shirt and shorts, came to the woman’s home asking for work. When she responded that he must come back when her husband was home, the man pushed his way in through the door.

He grabbed the homeowner’s little boy’s hand and held a knife to the baby’s neck, while asking her for plastic bags for his hands. The mother frantically tried to get the knife out of the suspect’s hand and her baby free from his grasp.

It is believed that the suspect went further into the house and when he spotted two bags, he said in broken English that Indians like keeping money everywhere. He went through the bags, taking the money inside, and started to ransack the rooms.

The victim started screaming and that’s when the man fled the scene.

This is the second break-in at the house within a matter of 6 months.

Police and Sharaj Ambulance Services responded to the scene.
