Soccer player killed during match

A 5 South African Infantry Battalion (5SAI) soldier died yesterday in a freak accident while playing soccer in Kroonstad.
The soldier, who was on a course at the time, was playing in a soccer match when he sustained severe head injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby army sick bay, where he was treated for his injuries.
Details are still sketchy, but it is believed that the soldier died soon afterwards from a brain-related injury.
5SAI colleagues expressed shock at the soldier’s sudden passing.
The deceased’s name and more information will be released at a later stage.
