Drie leerders van Sarel Cilliers het op 16 April, aan die ATKV-redenaars te Amajuba Hoërskool in Newcastle deelgeneem. Die skool is trots op Rohan Smit, Shaney Heydenrych en Michelle Cason wat dapper genoeg was om aan die onvoorbereide toesprake afdeling deel te neem. Hulle stem almal saam dat dit jou ‘n adrenalienskop gee soos min. Baie dankie en welgedaan julle dapper sprekers!

Netball and hockey players chosen for Umzinyathi District
Sarel Cilliers is very excited to announce that the following netball and hockey players were selected to represent Umzinyathi at the inter-district tournaments coming up soon. The following netball players will take part in the KZN trials in May: u/14: Celestine Jackson, Nontobeko Mathupha, Nonjabulo Ngobese, and Olwethu Nxumalo. u/15: Sindiswa Masinga, Snegugu Zwane and Thandolwethu Maritz. u/16: Zanele Dlomo, Luyanda Zondo, Siyanda Nkosi, Wandiswa Dube and Aphile Mntungwa. u/17: Angelique Thwala, Bongeka Manyathi, Nqobile Moetanalo. u/18 : Keabetswe Shoba. The following learners were chosen to represent Umzinyathi District in Pietermaritzburg at the end of April. u/14: Nicole Johnson, Charné Stoop, Angie Nero and Awethu Zulu. u/16: Nikita Ramdayal, Liezel Viljoen, Bongeka Lushaba and Janika Van Deventer. u/18: Fikile Sibisi, Naledi Ndala, Sonja Ackerman, Yandiswa Ngobese and Georgia Viljoen.

Sport against Newcastle High School
Sarel Cilliers travelled to Newcastle High School April 16 for the second league match of the season. There was some good entertainment and commitment from our learners and the rugby boys made a clean sweep on the rugby field. Netball scores: u/14A lost 13-4 and u/14B drew 4-4, u/15A won 16-0, u/16A lost 10-13 and u/16B lost 9-8, 2nd team lost 5-16 and the first team, after a titanic battle, had to bow the knee to NHS with a score of 18-20.
Hockey scores: 1st hockey girls drew 1-1, the 1st team boys won 2-1, u/14 girls won 4-0 and u/16 girls drew 1-1. Rugby scores: u/14 win 59-10, u/15 win 24-7, u/16 win 3-0, 2nd team wins 17-7 and the first team had a hard fought battle, but showed commitment and managed to beat Newcastle 40-3.

Chess news
Sarel Cilliers played chess against Newcastle High on April 16. Nine games were played. Sarel congratulates N Ndala, L Mlambo and L Maphumula for winning their games and T Jaji for drawing his game.
