Dagga valued at R40 000 was seized from two suspects while they were travelling by taxi recently.
Ladysmith police received information about dagga being transported via a minibus and proceeded to the R600, the road between Winterton and Ladysmith.
“The taxi was stopped and searched. Police discovered two passengers, whom between them had been transporting 25.9 kilograms dagga in three bags,” said police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
The suspects, aged 24 and 36, were arrested and charged for possession of dagga. They made an appearance in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, April 20.
