Taxi hit-men linked to hits in Weenen and Bergville
The Hawks believe they may be linked to several hits from various ongoing taxi wars

Six of the allegedly most deadly hit-men in the country were arrested by an elite police team on Friday (April 29).
Hawks, KZN Provincial Taxi Task Team and National Intervention Unit officers pounced on the men, catching them off-guard at the Mansfield Hostel, where the suspects were hiding.
Four wanted ‘alleged hit-men’ were found in possession of four unlicensed firearms, comprising an AK-47, two shotguns and one 9mm pistol, as well as 21 live rounds of ammunition.
The suspects were sought for taxi-related murders committed in Weenen, Bergville and Nongoma in January.
Their involvement in the Gamede/Mabaso taxi war has not been ruled out yet. The team also arrested two other suspects wanted for murders that happened at the Bergville taxi rank and Nongoma taxi rank in January.
The names of the six alleged hit-men will be released by the Hawks once they have appeared in court.
The number of dead in local, ongoing taxi wars has passed 100 killed in the last few years and the number is still climbing. On average, four to five deaths related to taxi shootings are reported every month.
A single taxi hit-man arrested over the Easter Weekend may be linked to as many as 56 counts of murder.
Another hit-man, Themba Raphael ‘Kiniti’ Mvelase, who is linked to the October 11 Massacre which claimed 15 lives and injured many others, will appear in court on June 13.
