AfriForum tackles unfinished municipal tasks
After receiving no response from the municipality by the assigned deadline, AfriForum took the bull by the horns and set about carrying out the repairs at their own expense.

MOTORISTS and pedestrians alike have long been inconvenienced by the ripped up section of road at the corner of Church and President Streets.
For several months, since a burst pipe was repaired by AbaQulusi Municipality at the busy intersection, the road surface has remained disregarded and unrepaired, reducing this section of road from three lanes to two.
On April 25, AfriForum served the municipality with a letter of demand, requesting that the road be properly repaired.
After receiving no response from the municipality by the assigned deadline, AfriForum took the bull by the horns and set about carrying out the repairs at their own expense. AbaQulusi Municipality will be held responsible for the costs incurred and AfriForum will recover said expenses from the municipality.
Washesha Construction was contracted by the community based civil rights organisation to carry out the reconstruction of the busy corner, which will be quite a relief to many motorists.
Work began early this morning and AfriForum representatives, including Chairman, Andrè Van Der Walt, were present at the site, encouraging community members to sign a petition to get involved in the campaign to save the town from the complacency of those who fail to live up to the responsibility of their positions of power.
