Local youth remembered

DESPITE the cold weather, local departments went to battle it out on the soccer field at Cecil Emmett on Saturday.

DESPITE the cold weather, local departments went to battle it out on the soccer field at Cecil Emmett on Saturday.

The locals came together as part of the Siyabakhumbula Memorial Soccer Tournament, which was in memory of local young people who died before their time under tragic circumstances.

Vryheid Masters lost the very first match 6- 7 to Transnet during the penalties.

Ncome Department of Correctional Services lost 1-2 to Health United.

The Department of Education gave the SAPS no chance winning their game 3-1.

Transnet were definitely on a roll on Saturday as they also won 2-1 against Health United.

In the final match, the Department of Education took the trophy home, winning 2-1 to the Department of Health.

The ladies from Transnet came first in the ladies soccer.

There will be more matches on June 16, as part of the youth day celebrations.
