2 nabbed with suspected stolen property

The men were arrested in two separate incidents

Two men, aged 18 and 27, appeared  in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (Monday), answering to the charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

The men were arrested in two separate incidents.

On Friday afternoon, police officers patrolling Kandahar Avenue stopped a man who was acting suspiciously. On searching the bag he was carrying, they found that he was in possession of property he was unable to account for.

He was arrested and detectives are investigating the origins of the property, which is suspected to be stolen.

Then, on Saturday afternoon, a 27-year-old man was arrested. The man had been recognised by the person he had stolen a cell-phone from two weeks prior.

She alerted police and after arresting the man for theft, another four cell-phones were found, all suspected to have been stolen.

Detectives are in the process of establishing the ownership of the property.
