BREAKING NEWS: Self inflicted justice for Van Rooyen killer
When he realised that he was about to be arrested, the suspected murderer ran into the veld in a last ditch attempt at evading the authorities. Police gave chase on foot and successfully apprehended the perpetrator.
Bongani Miya was scheduled to appear in court on Monday for his role in the heinous double murder of Billy Van Rooyen and Ronnie Lombard.
The 36-year-old alleged assassin will not be making that court appearance…
Miya, who informed police that he was a paramedic, employed by Ceza Hospital, was arrested yesterday after police received a tip off that he was standing alongside the road near Utrecht where he appeared to be waiting for a lift.
When he realised that he was about to be arrested, the suspected murderer ran into the veld in a last ditch attempt at evading the authorities. Police gave chase on foot and successfully apprehended the perpetrator.
He was booked into Vryheid holding cells, where he spent the night, before making the decision to take another life… his own.
Miya allegedly used strips of his bedsheet to hang himself in his cell.
According to reports, three other people, believed to have information regarding the double murder which shook the community in April, were taken in for questioning, but have since been released.
