Warden smuggles in drugs for prisoners?

Fellow colleagues nab prison warden with dagga in the boot of his car

A Correctional Services warden was arrested yesterday afternoon (Thursday) for possession of drugs.

The officer was coming on duty at around 5pm when fellow colleagues stopped his vehicle at the main gates to the prison. The warden, who was caught off-guard, was surprised when officials requested that the vehicle be searched.

Dagga was found in the boot of the car.

The warden was arrested and detained last night in the Ladysmith SAPS holding cells.

It is alleged that the warden was smuggling in the dagga for prisoners, at a cost.

The Correctional Services warden is set to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (Friday).
