The state of Hibiscus Avenue has sparked outrage, with residents taking to social media to air their grievances.
Motorists allegedly fear for their safety, as overgrown trees are obscuring a portion of the road.
According to posts on social media, the trees have been a problem for quite some time, with no resolution in sight.
Ward 2 Councillor, Bebsie Cronjè, said she took the matter up with the relevant department. However, her efforts were in vain.
“I reported the issue to the Department of Parks on March 30, but nothing was done. When the issue was placed on social media, I approached the department yet again.”
Cllr Cronjè claimed when she spoke to the department on May 11, she was told the matter would be addressed as soon as it stopped raining.
“However, when I followed the matter up, I was told the department could not see where the problem was. I will be following up on the issue until it is resolved,” she concluded.
Vish Govender of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cemeteries said his department was fully aware of the matter, and was dealing with it.
“The community can report uncut trees and grass to Community Services on 034 328 7756,” he added.
