Hamilton chess players advance to next uThukela Cluster round
Four players advanced after strong performances in the first round of the uThukela Trials.
Nine Hamilton pupils from the intermediate phase and college proudly represented the school in the first round of the uThukela Chess Trials over the weekend.
The school is delighted to announce that four of their talented players have advanced to the next Cluster Round in Newcastle.
Outstanding achievements
Congratulations to Ayabonga Mthethwa (Grade 10) and chess captain Rajita Goel (Grade 9), who both claimed first place in their respective age categories. Their exceptional performances are a wonderful reflection of their dedication, skill and commitment to the game.
Hamilton would also like to congratulate Janvi Rampersad (Grade 8), who secured an impressive second place; and Elias Ashi (Grade 8), who achieved an amazing third place.

“We are incredibly proud of all nine Hamilton chess players who took part in the trials. Their participation, sportsmanship and determination is a credit to our school and to the growing strength of chess at Hamilton,” said the principal.
