Transport hub open for business

The official opening ceremony will be held on Friday, May 27, the time will be confirmed

With its modern-design and multi-levels, the Umtshezi Public Transport Facility (taxi rank) gives Alexandra Street an urban and edgy look.

Taxis, commuters and hawkers relocated to the facility on Saturday as the public was allowed access into it. The official opening ceremony will be held on Friday, May 27, the time will be confirmed in next week’s paper.

This will be attended by the MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Willies Mchunu and will form a joint celebration as the Freedom Flame passes through the taxi rank in Alexandra Street, the Weenen market stalls and the Wembezi Multi-Purpose Centre.

National news broadcasters from television and radio are expected to descend on Estcourt for the official opening. What do you think of the new Umtshezi Public Transport Facility?
