A 26-year-old woman appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Friday following her arrest on Thursday for fraud.
It was discovered that the suspect, who was employed at a cellular company, had been defrauding the company during the period January to April this year.
She would override transactions for airtime and capture a lower amount than the actual value of the voucher sold, pocketing the extra cash. She would also load virtual money vouchers onto her phone without paying for them.
Thus far, she faces 925 counts of fraud which total around R140,000.
