The IFP today walked out of an executive meeting of the Umzinyathi Council.  M. Yengwa of the IFP told the Courier that the party had left the meeting to protest the ‘non-following of the Standing Rules of Order of the Council’.

He said in terms of regulations seven days notice must be given to call a meeting but at Umzinyathi ‘party’s only get 24-hours notice’.

“This has been happening for several months.  We believe it is a tactic of the ANC, the leading party, to push through resolutions.  We have objected to this but there has been no feedback.  That is why we left the meeting.  We are now planning legal action.”

He added that Councillors were given three days to wade ‘through a Councillor a 400 IDP review’.
