Power supply problems take out water to half of town

Power cuts town's water supply

A problem at a power source has affected the ability of the Ladysmith waterworks to pump water. Two teams of municipal electricians are hard at work fixing the problem.

The problem is not expected to be fixed before this evening.

Areas supplied by reservoirs are unaffected and it is only areas supplied directly by the water treatment plant.

Once power is restored, it will take the plant aboutĀ four hours to be pumping again at capacity.

The rule of thumb to use at the moment is “If you have water now, you will be unaffected.”
