A 37-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly raping his 77-year-old mother at her home in the St Chad’s area.
The incident occurred on Sunday, May 22, and was reported to police on Tuesday, May 24, after the mother had gained enough courage to open a case against her son.
Ladysmith Community Service Centre (CSC) officers immediately went out to look for the suspect. After tracing him to the Ekuvukeni area, he was arrested.
The Ladysmith Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is investigating the case.
The suspect appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges of rape.
