LENNOXTON – Road troubles have resurfaced in Lennoxton.
The upper end of Panorama Drive is the latest site of crumbling surfaces, cracking roads, widening potholes and general street decay.
Residents felt that area was simply neglected by the municipality.
“At the end of the day, it costs us more in terms of wear and tear to drive on roads which aren’t up to standard,” complained an anonymous motorist.
Formal municipal channels were followed in reporting this issue.
Although no response was received at the time of going to print, a previous reply to inquiries mentioned the effect a limited budget had on the maintenance of roads.
This was explained by SED of Electrical, Mechanical and Technical Services, Lindile Zincume.
“The muncipality has made provision of approximately R12-million for road sidewalks and stormwater [drains], and an almost equivalent amount for road resealing.”
Mr Zincume said while resurfacing of roads was feasible in terms of implementation, the limited budget implied only a few places could be done at any given time.
It remains to be seen what follows for Panorama Drive and those who utilise the road.
