Update: Father who slit children’s throats remains in custody
Accused Mkonzeni Bernard Mdladla remains in custody until June 29 for further investigation

Mkonzeni Bernard Mdladla remains in custody after allegedly killing his children by slitting their throats and ripping open their stomachs in cold blood on Monday night.
33-year-old Mdladla made a brief appearance in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday).
Standing with his head down during court proceedings, Mdladla stood before the magistrate in B-court, where he waived the right to bail and refused legal representation.
He remains in custody until June 29 for further investigation.
Ladysmith police are investigating a case of double murder.
KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa, commended the officers for arresting the suspect. “It is sad that people who are expected to protect and love their children are the ones charged with murder. We are pleased that the suspect was arrested and will face the law. We hope that justice will prevail and children’s hope brought back, especially during this Youth Month, as the suspect destroyed the future of this country,” he said.
