Tugela Ferry – one of the cleanest towns in Northern KZN?

Tins and papers are not lying around the area

While it is rural by nature and it is not unusual to see goats wandering across the main road, Tugela Ferry or Msinga, is extremely clean.

Unlike most towns in Northern KZN, Tugela Ferry is spotless.  There are hardly any papers or tins lying around even though the sidewalks are lined with hawkers selling everything from bananas, airtime to beanies.

The main road – the Dundee/Greytown road that passes through the town – is very congested as traffic builds up in a queue to over the one-way steel bridge over the Tugela River.  While there are no obvious signs of rubbish bins in the town, it is perhaps the hard work and pride shop-keepers in the village take in their area that keeps Tugela Ferry clean.  Other towns could learn from this.
