JUNE 16 marked 40 years since the Soweto uprising in 1976, where youth from the township of Soweto marched against Afrikaans being imposed as the medium of instruction.
On that day, thousands sustained injuries when police opened fire and two young lives were lost, Hastings Ndlovu and Hector Pieterson.
Last week, on June 15, Mahloni Primary held a celebration in honour of those who marched for the right of the youth to receive education in their own choice of medium of instruction.
The school management team convey sincere thanks to all staff for preparing such a wonderful information sharing session that will help our learners. Many thanks to the social science educators who led the session.
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
