Bystanders report the man was repeatedly kicked and punched before being assaulted with stones

Residents in Forderville are still reeling with shock after the roadside murder of an elderly man this morning. Witnesses report that at about 9.30am, today (Tuesday, July 5) a man in his mid-60s was killed after a bloody assault.

The deceased was allegedly assaulted by a man in his mid-30s, which then spilled out on to the road. Bystanders report the man was repeatedly kicked and punched before being assaulted with stones.

The severely injured elderly man died on the pavement shortly afterwards. A private paramedic team declared the man dead on scene.

When the police later arrived at the scene of the murder, they arrested the suspect. An exclusive interview with the neighbour will follow up soon.
