A new library for Harpo

The pupils at the school could not contain their excitement and spent the morning delivering recitals about the events of June 16, and about the importance of education.
Until now, the school has had a library building with shelves, but no books, and Insikazwe was prompted to intervene.

“Harpo Primary is one of the schools we’ve decided to adopt for various interventions ranging from donation of books to improving or initiating feeding schemes. We are passionate about shaping young minds, hence our efforts,” said Nelson Dlamini, the foundation’s chairperson.

Members of the school governing body as well as the school’s principal, Mrs M Masombuka, were very grateful to Insikazwe for choosing their school.

“Thank you for choosing us. Words could never describe just how grateful we are,” said Mrs Masombuka.
Insikazwe would like to thank all those who partnered with them on the project, especially Angel Shelembe, who supplied the décor and catering, Given Mthethwa, for providing the sound system, and a local photographer, for capturing all the special moments. “All our partners volunteered their services free of charge and we’d really like to express our gratitude to them,” said Xoli Mthembu of Insikazwe.

Nonhlanhla Mthethwa, who was the MC for the day, echoed her colleagues words, adding that it would have been a logistic nightmare for them to pull off without all their sponsors and partners, especially local businesswoman, Mbali Zungu, since they are based in Johannesburg.

The children also received some words of encouragement from Mr SSS Mhlungu.
“Seek education my children because education is the key to life,” said Mr Mhlungu. Harpo Primary School is a section 20 school. This means that most of its services are dependent on government and other forms of funding in order to continue functioning.

The school also has a shortage of furniture and Insikazwe is appealing to any member of the community, who can assist, to come forward.
