Nquthu municipal workers strike and cows have fun
A bit of dirty business has left local businesses fuming

Local cows have taken advantage of the non-collection of litter in Nquthu following a municipal strike. The workers have downed tools for the last two weeks, sources said and the strike is set to continue this week.
Litter remains uncollected and business people have complained. The workers claim that they want their salaries to be ‘upgraded from Grade 0 to Grade 3’. They also claimed that Councillors received an increase after the Nquthu Municipality was re-graded to Grade 3.
The municipality has been contacted for comment. It was said that the Council Speaker had been in Pietermaritzburg to negotiate with MEC Nomsa Dube although the exact details were not revealed. It is hoped that the workers will accept a solution that she will present to them.
