Umzinyathi back in IFP hands
IFP confirms control in Msinga and a hung Council in Nquthu
After five years under ANC rule, the Umzinyathi District Municipality is set to go back under the IFP’s control.
The party won 50.7% of the vote with 72 142 ballots cast with the ANC winning 39,2% of the vote with just over 55 000 votes.
The DA took 5454 votes or 3,8%. The EFF won 2834 votes. The IFP also took firmed their control of Msinga with 66% of the vote – 10% up on 2011.
It is neck and neck in Nquthu with the IFP winning 44.32% (17 888 votes) and the ANC 43.17% 17 422 votes. A coalition is likely. The EFF won 1194 and the DA 885.
