Fresh water going to waste in Forderville

"This is a great loss of water but it is now in their (Uthukela's) hands"

A constant flow of fresh water wastage has been worrying for a family in First Avenue. The leak was first spotted last Friday, August 12 when a family member noticed that water was flowing into a neighbour’s yard.

“It seems like there is a leak from the main water line and it is going through the yard,” explained the resident.

Doing her civic duty, the resident immediately alerted Uthukela District Municipality.

“We are always told to report water wastage and leaks. I made several calls to Uthukela in Ladysmith and even spoke to local staff members. I also contacted Tim Jeebodh and Breen Ally Buckus for help.

“Uthukela staff and Mr Jeebodh did come and have a look. Mr Jeebodh advised me on Sunday that it may be a leak from a pipe on the road and he would report the leak,” commented the resident.

She was however dismayed that an Uthukela staff member told her that “there were more important issues to sort out.”
“This is a great loss of water but it is now in their (Uthukela’s) hands,” she concluded.
