NHS boasts math Olympian

The school is extremely proud to announce that this year, Johnson Xiao, a Grade 12 pupils, qualified for the third and final round.

NEWCASTLE High School pupils participated in the South African Mathematics Olympiad, organised by the South African Mathematics Foundation, on an annual basis.

Although the school always has pupils qualifying for the second round, it is extremely proud to announce that this year, Johnson Xiao, a Grade 12 pupils, qualified for the third and final round.

In order to qualify, Johnson was one of 100 pupils across South Africa whose results from the previous round proved good enough. Furthermore the national winners will be announced in August.

A prestigious prize-giving is to be held in Johannesburg later this year, when the winners will be presented with their prizes.
