No Deputy Mayor for Endumeni

History made in council chambers

It’s official; Endumeni will not have a Deputy Mayor.

After a historic council meeting, councillors voted 7-6 in favour of dissolving the post of Deputy Mayor.

Cllr Mahaye accused the IFP of being excited by power following the decision.

Earlier on in the meeting, the DA’s Dr Isri Bedassi was voted in as the third member of EXCO.

Cllr Mdluli of the ANC told the Courier that the ANC will be reporting ‘this travesty’ to the MEC of COGTA, Nomsa Dube, as Endumeni was operating ‘as its own republic within South Africa.’

Mayor Mbatha again told the council that they must respect the house because he doesn’t want to hear or read that Endumeni council had been turned into chaos.
